  • I just bought a DVD writer/reader...

    ... and I didn't read the spec to see if it would fit in my case...

    Well I guess someone on eBay is going to get a shiny new DVD writer!

    Does anyone know where you can find the sizes of parts before you buy them because this isn't the first time i've done this...

    Almost all DVD/CD drives are 5.25" in width and thus will fit in any case with 5.25" drive bays...

        I will go with what the others posted here. I'll share also a link which might help you in buying a DVD writer below.
        Optical storage consists of a drive that uses a laser to read and write (or burn) data onto optical discs; CDs and DVDs are the most common. A standard CD holds...

          Although, optical media is kind of dead these days.

          I've not used a DVD ROM drive for years, and certainly not bought an actual DVD.

          Finally, even Operating systems are digital downloads, and their ISOs can be burned on to USB disks.
