  • Windows 7 processor

What's the latest intel processor that allows for use (offically supported) with windows 7? Is it skylake (6600k, 6700k) and does that mean the newer releases like the 7600k won't do so?

    Thanks.

They all work with Windows 7 fine. I've used Windows 7 on everything from Core 2 Duo (my first PC), all the way up through 4th gen, 6th gen, 7th gen, and 8th gen i3's, i5's, and i7's.

At the end of the day, it's just personal preference. If you want to use Windows 7, use it, it's still patched for security threats like Windows 10.

So, there is absolutely no reason to keep up with software, just like the is no reason to keep up with hardware (the performance increase per generation can be pretty small).
